Staying Too Long

inside the lines by Victoria Art Visions

She stayed too long
Swimming upstream,
Coloring in the lines
Prevailing in exhausting circles,
To only ended up
To where she began.

It’s hard to admit
That some things will not change.
And even if she did not change the world
She affected the people
She shared it with.

You see,
She had the strength to hold on
And realized the swim
Was not worth drowning in.
So she let go
And decided to grow back her wings
To live the life she once knew.

  1. Linda, This is a very well woven journey of self realization and discovery and so well said! Loved – “It’s hard to admit
That some things will not change.” Says so much! So many feelings and emotions left unsaid?? You leave us wondering about what “some things” might be??

    And end with
    “So she let go
And decided to grow back her wings
To live the life she once knew.”

Sounds like she was never meant to be a fish, living in water. Who or why did she do it? Such an interesting and intriguing piece. Loved it.
